The first step to cleaning berry stains from your shearling is to scrape away any access residue on the outside of the coat. You can use a blunt knife or spoon to gently remove excess fruit and debris. Once you have scraped off any large pieces of debris, it’s time to move on to the cleaning process.

Start by mixing together a cup of warm water and a teaspoon of detergent. Using a soft cloth, carefully dab the solution on the stained area. The trick is to not apply too much liquid to your shearling coat; you don't want to saturate the fabric. Gently rub area in a circular motion until the stain begins to lift.

Once you've done this, rinse the spot with cold water, then blot the area with a towel. Do not rub the area - this will cause the stain to set in fabric. Once you've removed as much of the liquid as possible, let the area air dry. Do not attempt to blow-dry the coat, or apply any heat.

If the stain still won't budge after first round of cleaning, mix together a tablespoon of white vinegar and a cup of cold water. Gently dab area with the solution and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing clean with cold water. Once the area is completely dry, you're all set!

With these easy-to-follow steps, you can keep your shearling looking as good as new – no matter how many berry stains you may encounter!
