The type of berry and the age of the stain will determine the best course of action for removing the stain. If the stain is still fresh, you can try dabbing it with a damp cloth or sponge. This will help to lift the stain from the fabric. If the berry stain is already dry, then you should use a pre-treatment product before laundering the item. You can also try soaking it in a laundry detergent/water solution before washing it.

Spot Treating with Detergent

If it’s a light stain, using a detergent is a good option. First, mix a solution of liquid laundry detergent and warm water. Dip a clean, soft cloth or sponge into the solution and dab it onto the stained area of rayon fabric. Gently massage the area and continue to dab it with the detergent soaked cloth until the stain begins to fade. Rinse the treated area with warm water and let the fabric air dry.

Using Vinegar and Baking Soda

Another method for dealing with berry stains on rayon is by using vinegar and baking soda. Begin by making a paste by combining 1 tablspoon of baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon of white vinegar. Mix the ingredients together until it has a thick, paste-like consistency. Apply paste directly to the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes. Afterwards, rinse the paste off with warm water and pat the area try with a clean cloth.

Laundering and Drying the Rayon Fabric

Once stain has been removed, you can launder the rayon fabric as you normally would. Wash the item with a mild detergent, and avoid any harsh chemicals. Air drying fabric is the best option for rayon fabric, but you can also use a tumble dryer on low heat if necessary. Make sure the fabric is completely dry after laundering it, as any residual moisture could cause stain to reappear.
