Berry stains can often be stubborn, so it’s important to pre-treat the stain. Start by soaking stained area in a mixture of equal parts cold water and white vinegar for 15 minutes. This will help loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.
If your mask is colored, it’s important to test it for colorfastness. To do this, wet a Q-tip with your cleaning solution and blot it against an inconspicuous part of mask. If the color starts to run, you’ll want to use a gentler cleaning solution.
Make a paste with baking soda and a small amount of warm water. Use a soft cloth or toothbrush to gently scrub stain. The warmth of the water and the gentle abrasiveness of the baking soda will help lift the stain. Rinse with cool water and pat dry with a soft towel.
To give your mask an extra deep clean, wash with a tiny drop of mild laundry detergent. Rinse with cool water and hang to dry.
For tougher berry stains, try using hydrogen peroxide. Dip a soft cloth into a 3% solution and blot the stain until it’s gone. For best results, try using natural light to see when the stain has been completely removed.
Once you’ve finished cleaning your mask, lay it flat on a clean surface and let it sun-dry. This will help keep your mask looking bright and new for longer.
