The first step is to act fast! As soon as the berry stain is noticed, it’s best to treat the area. Start by gently dabbing the soiled spot with a damp cloth. Don’t scrub, as this could damage the delicate fibers of the macramé piece.
After blotting the area, prepare a diluted solution of natural soap and cool water. Gently immerse the soiled area in the solution and let it sit for 15 minutes. Blot dry with a clean, lint-free cloth. Repeat as needed but do not leave the fabric in the liquids for longer than 15 minutes.
If the stain persists, prepare a solution of baking soda and white vinegar in equal proportions then carefully apply to the soiled area. Leave the solution to sit for 15 minutes, then rinse with cool water. To finish, spin the fabric in the washing machine on a low cycle setting then hang out to dry.
Following these simple steps and using the right cleaning solutions should help to successfully remove berry stains from your macramé. When handling stained fabrics, always use caution and handle with care.
