Linen is an expensive and delicate fabric, so traditional cleaning methods such as using bleach and spot removers should be avoided when dealing with berry stains. Instead, start by gently blotting the stain with a dry and clean cloth. This will help to remove as much of excess juice and berry pulp as possible.
Next, make a paste of laundry detergent and water and apply it to the stained area. Using a soft brush or cotton swab, gently rub the paste into stain. Allow mixture to sit for 30 minutes before rinsing it off with cool water. If done correctly, the stain should come right out.
If stain persists, you may need to use a stronger solution. Mix together white vinegar, lemon juice and warm water and apply it directly to the stain. Rub it into the fabric and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off the solution and check to see if the stain has been removed. Repeat if necessary.
It's also important to know how to properly launder the fabric afterwards. To prevent stain from setting, use cold water instead of hot and add a color-safe bleach to the load. Hang the fabric outside to dry or use a low-heat setting on the dryer.
With these simple steps, you can easily get rid of berry stains from your linen without any fuss.
