Step 1: Blot Stain

Start by blotting the stain with a paper towel and cold water. Be sure to avoid scrubbing or rubbing, as this can cause stain to spread or set further into the fabric. If you don’t have a paper towel handy, an old cotton t-shirt or a cloth napkin can also work.

Step 2: Make a Cleaning Solution

Mix together one tablespoon of white vinegar, one teaspoon of liquid detergent, and one quart of warm water. These ingredients create a powerful yet gentle cleaning agent that should help to lift the stain away from the fabric. If you don’t have white vinegar, distilled white vinegar or apple cider vinegar can do trick.

Step 3: Apply Cleaning Solution

Using a clean cloth, sponge, or soft-bristled brush, apply the cleaning solution directly to the stain. Be sure to work it in gently, taking care not to rub too hard. Let the solution sit for 15 minutes.

Step 4: Rinse and Repeat

Rinse the cleaning solution away with cool water and repeat steps 2 and 3 if necessary. Additional applications may be needed, depending on the size and severity of the stain.

Step 5: Dry & Done

When stain has been removed, allow the jeans to air dry. Hang them up to dry or lay them on a flat surface, such as a table or countertop. Do not put them in the dryer until they are completely dry, as this could cause the stain to set further. Once they’re dry, they’re ready to go!
