The first option when it comes to removing berry stains is to use some washing detergent. You will need to find a detergent that is specifically designed for stain removal, as this has ingredients that can help to break down the staining elements of the juices. Before applying your regular laundry detergent, however, it's important to begin by pre-treating the stain with a detergent that is designed for stain removal.
Start by soaking the jersey in cold water for at least 15 minutes, then apply a small amount of the pre-treatment detergent directly to the stain and rub into the fibers. Leave the detergent on the stain for at least 10 minutes, then rinse the area with cold water. After that, you can put the jersey in washing machine as normal, using your regular laundry detergent.
If you don't have any pre-treatment detergent on hand, or you'd rather not use it, you can make your own stain remover solution using baking soda, white vinegar, and hot water. Start by mixing one tablespoon of baking soda with two tablespoons of white vinegar in a small bowl, and stir until it forms a paste. Then, apply the paste directly to the stain and leave for 5 minutes, before rinsing with hot water. Finally, put the jersey in the washing machine and wash as normal.
If you don't have any pre-treatment detergent or DIY ingredients handy, you can purchase a professional stain removal kit. These kits come with all the necessary tools and supplies needed to remove stain, and they often include instructions which make the process easy and straightforward. After using the kit, make sure to follow regular washing instructions when putting the jersey in the machine.
To prevent future berry stains, try to keep any berry related foods away from your jersey. If you do happen to spill something on the fabric, make sure to take action as soon as possible, as the sooner you address the stain, the easier it will be to remove. Additionally, always read the care labels on your jersey to ensure you are washing it correctly.
