What is Jacquard?
Jacquard fabric is a type of woven cloth with a pattern or design created by weaving together two different sets of yarns. Strikingly beautiful, it lends a sophisticated look to any item. Unfortunately, because jacquard is woven from multiple threads, berry stains can easily seep into it.
How to Clean Berry Stains from Jacquard
To remove a berry stain from jacquard, follow these simple steps:
- Mix one part white vinegar with four parts water and pour solution onto the stained area. Let the fabric absorb the solution for two minutes.
- Using a clean cloth or paper towel, dab at the stain until liquid is removed from fabric.
- Mix one part dish soap with two parts cool water. Dip the cloth or paper towel into the mixture, then gently rub over the stained area in a circular motion until the stain begins to fade.
- Rinse the fabric with cold water to remove the soap solution. Repeat steps 1-3 as needed, until the stain is completely removed.
- Allow the fabric to air dry.
Tips to Prevent Stains on Jacquard
- Create a barrier between the fabric and stain by placing a piece of parchment paper between the fabric and source of the stain.
- Use spot cleaning techniques to limit the spread of stain.
- For large spills or stains, bring the item to a professional dry cleaner for optimal results.
