Berries are full of antioxidants, vitamins and fiber - all great for your body - but those yummy red and blue colors can be tough to get out of cloth. If you’ve found yourself with a berry stain on your favorite fleece jacket, don’t fear as there’s a few quick tricks you can use to get rid of it.
How to Remove Berry Stains From Fleece
- Act quickly. The quicker you treat stain, the easier it will be to remove. If you can, grab a damp cloth and spot clean the area right away.
- Use cold water. Start by running cold water through the back of the stain, which will help draw out some of the berry juice. Make sure not to rub or scrub the fabric as this may cause the stain to spread.
- Apply a pre-wash solution. Using an enzyme-based pre-treatment product designed for removing stains, rub solution into the stained area until it is completely saturated. Allow solution to sit for about 10 minutes, then rinse it off with cold water.
- Wash in cold water. Place the fleece item in the washing machine and wash in cold water with color-safe detergent. Do not use bleach, as this can damage the fabric and set the stain.
- Check before drying. After washing, check the stained area for signs of discoloration. If it looks like stain is still there, apply another round of pre-treatment and repeat the washing process.
- Dry on low heat. Finally, lay the garment flat to dry on a low heat setting. Do not place the item in the dryer until the stain is gone.
Following these simple steps should help you get rid of those pesky berry stains in no time - giving you more time to enjoy your favorite berry-filled treats!
