Before treating berry stain, you'll need to remove as much of the berry material as possible. It's best to use a spoon or dull knife to do this. Once you have removed as much of the berry material as possible, dab the stained area with a white cloth or paper towel. This will help absorb any berry juice that is still on the fabric.
Once the excess berry material has been removed, you can begin to treat the stain. In a bowl or bucket, mix 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 cup of water. Soak the stained area in this mixture for at least 10 minutes. This will help loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.
While stained area is soaking, mix together 1 tablespoon of baking soda, 2 tablespoons of liquid dish soap, and 1 cup of warm water. Stir the mixture until baking soda is dissolved. This mixture can be used to scrub away the stain once it has been soaked.
Once the stained area has been soaked for at least 10 minutes, take a clean cloth and dip it into the cleaning solution you made. Gently scrub the stained area using circular motions. Once the stain has been removed, rinse the stained area with cool water and allow it to air dry.
With these simple steps, you can easily remove pesky berry stains from your cotton oxford. Keep in mind that repeated use of vinegar or chemicals containing bleach may cause fading over time so it is best to test a small area first before attempting to treat the stain.
