What You Will Need:

  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Stain remover (optional)
  • Grease-cutting dishwashing liquid
  • Old toothbrush

Step 1: Pretreat Stain

Gently rub detergent into the stained area of the fabric. Then soak the item for about half an hour in cold water. This will help to loosen the stain.

Step 2: Soak in Vinegar Solution

Mix one part white vinegar with two parts cold water. Soak the stained area in this solution for 10-20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

Step 3: Apply a Stain Remover (Optional)

Spray or blot a stain-fighting product directly onto the stain. Let it sit for five minutes before rinsing. Alternatively, you can apply a paste made of equal parts dishwashing liquid and baking soda, then rinse.

Step 4: Launder Normally

Wash the item in the hottest water recommended for fabric and either a liquid detergent or a detergent pacs. For extra tough stains, add an oxygen-based bleach like OxiClean to wash cycle.

Step 5: Check for Residue

If there is still a trace of the stain, gently scrape it away with an old toothbrush. Then launder the item again.

Conclusion

Eliminating berry stains from cotton isn't difficult. Just follow the steps outlined above and you should have no trouble getting your fabric looking clean and stain-free again.
