Steps to Follow
- Check the tag on the dress: There will be instructions on care label which will talk about how to clean the dress. Depending on fabric, some stains can be more difficult to remove than others.
- Gently dab the area using a damp cloth: Start by blotting the area gently with a cloth. It's best to use cold or lukewarm water and avoid hot water as this can cause the stain to set.
- Mix a solution of warm water and laundry detergent: Stir together one cup of warm water and 1 teaspoon of laundry detergent. Use a gentle detergent, such as an all-purpose laundry detergent, to avoid damaging the fabric.
- Dip a clean cloth into the solution: Carefully dip the cloth into the sudsy mixture and gently blot the stained area. Be careful not to rub, as this can spread the stain or damage the fabric.
- Rinse off: Once the stain has been removed, rinse the area with clean water. Allow the dress to air dry. Don't place in direct sunlight or put in the dryer.
