As soon as you notice the berry stain, start by blotting it with a clean white cloth or paper towel. Blotting helps lift out the staining particles from the fabric. Do not rub the fabric – this will cause the berry particles to penetrate into the fabric and make the stain harder to remove.
Gently wet the stained area with warm water. Be careful not to over-wet the fabric as this could cause further staining. You may need to repeat this step several times in order to remove berry stain.
Mix a small amount of liquid laundry detergent and water to create a paste. Gently rub the paste over the stained area and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. After this time has passed, rinse out the paste with warm water.
Turn garment inside out and wash it in washing machine according to the care instructions. Use a color-safe detergent and the hottest water setting that is safe for the fabric. Always double-check the label to make sure to avoid shrinkage or discoloration.
After washing, check the stain to see if it has been removed. If it is still visible, repeat steps 2 to 4 before drying the garment.
Allow the garment to air dry or dry it in the dryer. Don't forget to check the stained area again.
Cleaning berry stains from chambray fabric can be tricky. However, with these simple steps, you can have your chambray looking like new again. Always test the cleaning agents in an inconspicuous area first and always follow the care instructions on the fabric label.
