Removing Fresh Stains

If you find the stain while it is fresh, start by blotting away as much of the juice as possible with a cloth or paper towel. This will prevent the stain from spreading further.

Once you've got rid of the excess moisture, mix a teaspoon of washing up liquid with two cups of cold water. Gently dab the solution onto the stain, being careful not to rub or scrub it in. Once you've done this, use a clean cloth to blot away the remaining solution.

To finish up, rinse area in cold water until all traces of soap have disappeared, then lay flat to air dry.

Cleaning Older Stains

If the stain has been left untreated for a while, the next step is to use white vinegar. Mix one part white vinegar with two parts cold water and gently dab it onto the stain. After a few seconds, blot away the remaining liquid before rinsing with cold water. Again, make sure everything has been removed and lay flat to dry.

Using Natural Alternatives

There are also some natural ways of getting rid of berry stains. Bicarbonate of soda is a great start – simply make a paste using a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and cold water, apply to the stain, and leave for a minute before blotting away the solution. You can also make use of lemon juice by dabbing the stain with a cloth soaked in it.

Tips & Tricks

It is always advisable to take your blazer to a professional cleaner if the stain has been there for a while. In addition, you should always check the care instructions before attempting any of these cleaning methods.
