1. Treat with Laundry Detergent

If the berry stain is still fresh, an immediate treatment with laundry detergent is your best bet. Create a mixture of one tablespoon of laundry detergent with two cups of warm water, and submerge your abaya in solution for fifteen minutes. Afterwards, rinse with cold water and hang your abaya up to dry.

2. Try Ammonia

Another option for removing fresh berry stains is ammonia. Make sure to dilute the ammonia with an equal amount of water before applying it to your abaya. Let it sit for fifteen minutes, and then rinse it off with cold water. You can repeat this as many times as necessary until the stains are gone.

3. Pre-treat with Vinegar

For tougher stains, pre-treat your abaya with white vinegar or apple cider vinegar. Mix one tablespoon of vinegar with one cup of warm water and apply it directly onto stained areas with a sponge. Let it sit for ten minutes, and then you can machine-wash it in cold water.

4. Use a Stain Remover

There are also some great commercial stain removers that work well on berry stains. You'll want to look for a product specifically meant for abayas and other delicate fabrics. Check the directions on the label for best results.

5. Professional Dry Cleaning

If all else fails, bring your abaya to a professional dry cleaner. They’ll have the right tools and techniques to help remove even the toughest berry stains from your cherished garment.
