Barbecue sauce is a great way to add flavor to meals, but it could be less than ideal when it lands on your favorite wrap dress. If you tackle the stain quickly and with the right methods, you can soon be back to look as good as new.

What You Need

  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Tools for scrubbing (brush, sponge etc.)

Steps to Clean the Stain

  1. Mix 1 teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar with 2 cups of cool water
  2. Apply the mixture directly onto the stain
  3. Scrub gently with a sponge or brush
  4. Rinse the garment in cold water until the stain disappears
  5. If the stain persists, add more detergent to the mixture and repeat steps 2-5
  6. Once clean, launder with cold water to finish

Tips for Prevention

  • When using barbecue sauce, be mindful of how much you're using and where it's landing
  • If you notice sauce on fabric, act fast and use a napkin or paper towel to blot away the excess before it has time to set
  • You can also protect the fabric with a light layer of salt, which will absorb some of the moisture and make cleaning easier
