Steps to Remove Barbecue Sauce Stains from Tussah

  1. Using a dull butter knife or spoon, scrape off as much of the barbecue sauce as possible. You don't want to spread stain, so work carefully.
  2. Create a mixture of one cup of warm water and two tablespoons of liquid detergent in a bowl. Swish around to create suds.
  3. Dampen a cloth with the soapy solution, then gently dab it onto the stain.
  4. After a few minutes, rinse the stained area of the tussah with cool water.
  5. Lay the tussah flat on a towel and blot dry.
  6. If any stain remains, pour a small amount of ammonia onto a white cloth and dab directly onto the stain. Rinse with cold water and lay fabric flat to dry.

Tips for Cleaning BBQ Sauce Stains from Tussah

  • Always read the care instructions that come with tussah fabric before attempting to remove any stains.
  • Make sure to use a mild detergent for cleaning tussah; harsher detergents can damage the delicate fabric.
  • Be wary of using bleach or other harsh chemicals to treat barbecue sauce stains. This could damage fabric.
