The first step to removing the stain is to blot it with a white cloth or paper towel. Do not scrub, as this will only spread the stain. Keep blotting the area until no more of the stain comes out.
Mix a solution of one part dish detergent and two parts cool water. Apply a small amount of the mixture to the stain using a soft cloth or brush. Gently work detergent into stain and let it sit for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, rinse the area with cold water. Use a damp cloth to gently blot the area and remove any residue.
Place the item in washing machine and select the coldest setting possible. Use a laundry detergent designed for delicates, and add a ¼ cup of white vinegar to the load. After the cycle is complete, hang the item to air dry.
