Removing stains from tights can be tricky. After the sauce has seeped through the fibers of the fabric, quickly tackling the stain requires more than a simple rub down with washing detergent. The following are five home remedies that can help you easily get rid of those nasty BBQ sauce stains.
Start by soaking stained area of the tights in white vinegar for 15 minutes, then rinse off with hot water. This will help to loosen and lift away the sauce and grease.
Mix one part baking soda and two parts warm water to make a paste. Rub the mixture into the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then rinse the paste away with hot water. Repeat this method until the stain is gone.
Coconut oil has natural anti-bacterial properties, so it’s great for removing sauce stains. Simply apply some coconut oil directly onto the stained area and leave it to soak for 30 minutes before rinsing off with hot water. You can also mix one teaspoon of coconut oil with one teaspoon of dish soap and use the mixture to scrub away at stain.
If the stain is still not budging, try treating it with laundry detergent. Apply a small amount of detergent onto the stain and leave it to soak for 10 minutes. Then rinse off with hot water.
OxiClean is great for removing tougher stains. Make a mixture of OxiClean and hot water and soak the stained area for 30 minutes before rinsing off with hot water and throwing in wash.
