If tie has only just been stained with BBQ sauce, the first thing to do is to try and blot as much of the sauce out as possible. Take a paper towel or clean cloth and press it against the stain and then gently dab away any excess sauce. Don't rub or scrub as this may cause the stain to spread or may even damage the fabric of the tie.
Once you have blotted as much as you can, apply some dishwashing liquid or detergent directly onto the stain. Gently rub the liquid into the stained area before leaving for a few minutes. This will help to break down the grease and BBQ sauce.
Next up, you can try soaking the tie in warm water and a few drops of white vinegar. The acidity of the vinegar will help to loosen and lift out the BBQ sauce stain. Leave the tie to soak for about 15 minutes before rinsing it with cold water.
If stain still won't budge, fill a bowl with warm water and add a few tablespoons of baking soda. Submerge the tie in the solution and leave it for around 10 minutes. Then rinse the tie thoroughly with cold water and repeat the process until the stain has disappeared.
And finally, if all else fails, take the tie to the dry cleaners and ask them for help. Most professional cleaners should be able to get rid of the stubborn stain.
