Step 1: Blot Immediately
Once the spill has been noticed, take a soft cloth or sponge and soak up as much of the barbecue sauce as possible. Do not rub or scrub the fabric, as this may damage delicate fibers.
Step 2: Create a Detergent Solution
Mix a teaspoon of a mild detergent and a quart of warm water in a bowl. Use only a detergent that is specifically made for delicate fabrics. Soak stained area of garment in solution.
Step 3: Rinse Stains
Take the garment out of the solution and rinse it thoroughly with cold water, then use a soft cloth to wipe off any remaining residue.
Step 4: Apply Stain Remover
If the stain persists, apply a delicate fabric spot-cleaning solution directly on it, using a sponge or cloth to work the solution into the stain. Let it sit for no more than 15 minutes and then rinse it off.
Step 5: Air-Dry
Once the stain has been removed, hang the garment up somewhere warm and let it air-dry completely before washing or wearing it.
