To clean tartan fabric with barbecue sauce stains, start by dabbing at the stain immediately using a paper towel to absorb sauce. You should repeat this step as many times as necessary to remove as much sauce as you can. Just be sure not to rub the fabric or you risk setting the stain.
To further remove the sauce from the tartan fabric, prepare a solution of one teaspoon mild detergent and two cups of warm water. Then use a clean sponge or white cloth and dip it into the solution. Squeeze out any excess liquid so it doesn’t soak into the fabric. Gently blot stained area a few times, then rinse with cold water. Repeat this step until the sauce stain is gone.
If the detergent method doesn’t work, you can try using white vinegar. Prepare a solution of one cup white vinegar and one cup warm water. Again, use a clean sponge or cloth to dab stain. Do not rub the fabric or else the stain can spread. Allow to sit for a few minutes then rinse off using cold water. If the stain persists, you can repeat this step up to three times.
When dealing with barbecue sauce stains on clothes, start by removing the excess sauce using a spoon or a dull knife. Then turn the clothes inside out and rinse back of fabric with cold water. Afterwards, place the clothes in the washing machine, making sure to add a laundry detergent that includes enzymes. Run the cycle on the normal setting and let the clothes air dry.
