If your Superga shoes have been splattered with barbecue sauce, it's important to act quickly and clean up mess as soon as possible. The longer sauce sits on the material, the harder it will be to remove.

Step One: Blot Up the Mess

First, use a paper towel or a cloth to gently blot up as much of the sauce as you can. Don't rub it in, as this can make the stain worse. If needed, use an old toothbrush to get edges of the stain.

Step Two: Pretreat with Detergent

Make a solution of 1/4 cup of liquid detergent with one quart of warm water. Dip a rag into the mixture and dab it onto the stain. Let this sit for 15 minutes before moving onto the next step.

Step Three: Wash as Usual

Once the mixture has set for at least 15 minutes, follow the washing instructions outlined on the tags of your Superga shoes. For most materials, this means machine washing in cold water with a mild detergent. Be sure not to put your shoes in the dryer. Let them air dry.

Conclusion

Cleaning barbecue sauce stains from Superga shoes can be surprisingly easy. With a bit of soapy water and a little time, you can have your shoes back to new in no time!
