What You'll Need

  • Liquid laundry detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Unscented Dish Soap
  • Clean water
  • Old cloths

Step 1: Act Fast

When you notice the stain, act fast! Stains are easier to remove if they have not had time to set in. If the stain is still fresh, try to gently scrape off the excess sauce with a spoon. Then, rinse the area with cold water to flush away any soapy residue.

Step 2: Soak in Detergent

If the stain has had a chance to settle, then put the affected area in some cold water and detergent. Let fabric soak for about 15 minutes and then rinse it off with cold water.

Step 3: Rinse with Vinegar

If the stain is proving to be stubborn, try rinsing it with a mixture of white vinegar and cool water. Allow the fabric to soak for up to 30 minutes before rinsing again with cold water.

Step 4: Wash with Detergent and Soap

If the stain persists after soaking and rinsing, then try washing the area with unscented dish soap and liquid laundry detergent. Make sure the detergent does not contain any bleach or fabric softener, as these can leave their own stains on the fabric. Allow detergent to soak into fabric for about 10 minutes, and then rinse with cold water.

Step 5: Check for Residue

After following all of the steps, check for any remaining sauce residue. If there is still some left, try repeating the steps until stain is completely gone. Once stain is gone, wash the whole sundress according to the instructions on fabric care label.
