You should always treat a stain as soon as possible. First, blot the stain with a dry paper towel or cloth to absorb as much of the BBQ sauce as you can. Apply gentle pressure when doing this, as you don’t want to drive the stain deeper into the fabric.
Once you’ve blotted as much of the BBQ sauce as you can, rince the fabric with cool water. Make sure the water is not too hot, as it may set the stain. If you’re not sure, follow the care label instructions on the garment.
To tackle BBQ sauce stain, you’ll need to apply a good-quality stain remover. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully, as some stain removers may need to be diluted before use. Apply the stain remover directly to the area of the stain and leave it to work for about 5-10 minutes.
Once the stain remover has done its job, rinse the fabric again with cool water. Then, launder item as normal in the washing machine. In most cases, this should be enough to get the stain out. However, if the stain still remains, repeat steps 2-4 until the stain is removed.
