The first step is always to blot the area with a clean cloth or paper towel to remove any excess sauce. Do not rub the affected area as it can just spread the stain around even further. Use one side of the cloth for blotting before turning it over to a clean side and continue.
Mix warm water and a gentle dishwashing liquid in a bowl. Then, dip a clean cloth into the solution and wring out any excess liquid. Gently dab stained area with wet cloth. Avoid rubbing the area forcefully as it can damage the fabric.
Rinse the fabric with lukewarm water and re-apply the dishwashing liquid solution if necessary. The stain should start to lift off as you keep working on it. Rinse with cold water after to stop the cleaning process.
Once you’ve finished the cleaning process, use a clean cloth or paper towel to blot fabric dry. Make sure not to rub area too hard as this can leave behind new stains.
After you’ve thoroughly worked on the stain, check to make sure all of the BBQ sauce has been removed. If there are still some stubborn stains left, repeat the entire process until fabric is clean. If stain persists, try using a stronger stain remover such as vinegar or ammonia.
Getting rid of BBQ sauce stains on silk charmeuse is definitely not something you would want to take chances with. Following the steps listed above will ensure that your precious fabric will remain stain-free and as gorgeous as ever. Don’t forget to check for remaining stains, and if needed, try stronger stain removers.
