The best way to treat a BBQ sauce stain is to pre-treat it with detergent. Apply a small amount of detergent directly onto the spot and let it sit for a few minutes. Gently rub the detergent into the fabric with a damp sponge or cloth, making sure to cover the entire stained area.
Once you've pre-treated the stain, fill a basin or bucket with warm water and submerge the stained fabric. Soak for 10-30 minutes, depending on the severity of stain. If needed, you can add a mild detergent to the water.
Once the stain has been soaked, rinse it with lukewarm or cold water. Be careful not to use hot water, as this could cause the stain to set.
After rinsing, blot away excess moisture with a clean towel. Do not rub or scrub fabric, as this could cause stain to spread. Once fabric is mostly dry, hang up the garment or fabric to air dry completely.
If the stain remains after you've gone through all the steps, you may need to repeat the process. You can also try using a laundry pre-treatment before you soak the fabric. Just be sure to test any products on a small hidden area of the fabric first.
