As soon as you notice the barbecue sauce stain has been transferred onto the raincoat, you should act quickly. If you wait too long, the stain could set into the fabric and become difficult to remove.
Take a damp cloth and lightly dab it onto the stained area. Make sure to use cold water and a mild detergent that isn't too harsh on the fabric. Gently scrub the area until the stain begins to lighten.
If the stain does not completely come out after the initial treatment, don't worry. You can rinse the area with cold water and repeat steps two and three until the stain is gone. However, it's important to let the raincoat fully dry before you try to apply additional treatments.
If regular detergent and water still do not remove the stain, then you may need to use a stain remover specifically designed for removing barbecue sauce. These products can be purchased at most stores and they are very easy to use, just make sure to read the directions carefully before applying them.
Once all the steps above have been completed, you can throw the raincoat in the washing machine. You will want to use a gentle cycle with cold water and avoid the use of bleach. After cycle is finished, hang the raincoat up to air dry.
We know that stains from barbecue sauce are never fun to deal with, especially on raincoats. To remove them, start by acting quickly and using detergent or a stain remover specifically designed for barbecue sauce. Finally, follow up by throwing it in the wash before hanging it up to dry.
