The longer a barbecue sauce stain sits, deeper it can embed itself into the pique fabric. To ensure that you get the best results, act quickly as possible once the sauce has spilled.
To begin the stain removal process, pre-treat the affected area with detergent. Use an enzyme-based laundry detergent and dab a small amount directly onto the stain. After detergent is on the stain, gently rub it in using your fingertips. Allow the detergent to sit on the stain for at least 10 minutes before attempting any further steps.
Once the detergent has had a chance to work its magic, rinse the area with cold water. Once the detergent has been removed, repeat Steps 1 and 2 until all traces of stain have faded.
After you have successfully removed the barbecue sauce stain, follow the care instructions for the pique fabric to launder the item. Be sure to select the appropriate water temperature, detergent, and drying cycle to ensure that the stain is completely gone.
