Getting rid of barbecue sauce stains from pillows can be a bit tricky, but with patience and the right techniques, it’s totally possible to clean them without compromising the condition of the fabric. Follow these steps for best results.
Mix one teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent with 6 tablespoons of white vinegar and 1 tablespoon of baking soda in a bowl with 1 quart of warm water. This mixture will act as a stain remover that will help you get rid of BBQ sauce stains.
Once the cleaning solution is ready, start pre-treating the stained area. With a cotton swab or a soft cloth, apply the solution directly onto the stained area and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Doing so will loosen up stain and make it easier to remove.
After pre-treating stain, it's time to use a mild detergent. Apply a small amount of mild detergent onto stain and scrub it gently with a soft brush. You can also use a toothbrush for hard-to-reach spots. Make sure to use light pressure and work in circular motions.
Once stain has been removed, rinse off the detergent and the cleaning solution with cold water. Then, blot the area with a clean, dry microfiber cloth so you don't spread the stain around. Finally, hang out the pillow outdoors or in a well-ventilated room to let it completely dry.
