As soon as you notice spot, act quickly with a damp cloth and mild detergent to help lift out stain.
Once the fabric is dry, mix a solution of 1/4 teaspoon of grease-fighting dish soap and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar in a small bowl. Apply this solution directly to stained area and use an old toothbrush to work it into the fabric. Leave it for 10 minutes before rinsing the fabric with warm water.
Create a stronger solution by adding 1 teaspoon of washing soda to the previous mixture. Let the fabric soak in this solution for at least 1 hour before rinsing with warm water. Allow the fabric to air dry.
If the stain persists, make an appointment with a professional fabric cleaner. They will be able to assess the situation and determine the best possible course of action.
If the stain is too stubborn, you may need to purchase a replacement piece for your Peau de soie fabric. To ensure that future stains don’t ruin your fabric, consider using a water repellant spray.
