Removing Barbecue Sauce Stains From a One-Piece Swimsuit

  1. Check care label on your one-piece swimsuit. Before attempting to clean the BBQ sauce stain, make sure that your swimsuit can be washed in a washing machine.
  2. If your swimsuit can be machine-washed, start by treating the stained area with a laundry pre-treatment spray. Work the spray into fabric using your fingertips until the stained area is completely coated.
  3. Allow laundry spray to set onto fabric for 5–10 minutes.
  4. After the pre-treatment spray has set, place the one-piece swimsuit into washing machine. Use warm water and a mild detergent.
  5. Add a scoop of Oxyclean powder to the wash for extra stain-fighting power.
  6. Run the cycle and then allow the swimsuit to air dry.

Other Stain Removal Methods

  • If you don't want to wash your swimsuit in the washing machine, or if your care label does not permit it, try blending together equal parts white vinegar, dish soap, and baking soda. Work this homemade mixture into the stained area and let it sit for 10–15 minutes. Then rinse off the area with cold water.
  • To remove BBQ sauce stains from colored articles of clothing, try using Rubbing Alcohol. Soak a cotton swab or ball in rubbing alcohol and use it to gently dab at the stained area. Be careful not to scrub too hard, as this could further damage the material.
  • Always perform a spot test before using any of these methods, as some dye materials may be affected.
