Step 1: Gather Supplies

Before you get started, you’ll need to have the following items on hand: absorbent paper towels, a clean cloth or sponge, white vinegar, liquid soap, and a brush or toothbrush (if necessary).

Step 2: Blot the Stain

Start by laying down several layers of paper towels over the stain. Put something heavy on top of paper towels to help them absorb as much of the excess sauce as possible. Let this sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Then, discard the paper towels and gently dab the stain with a damp cloth or sponge.

Step 3: Pretreat the Stain

Next, make a paste using the liquid soap and a few drops of white vinegar. Rub the paste into the stain with a brush or toothbrush. Then, let the paste sit for 30 minutes.

Step 4: Wash the Mules

Once the paste has had time to work its magic, rinse mules with cold water. Then, place them in the washing machine and wash as you normally would. Be sure to use a mild detergent and avoid using bleach.

Step 5: Air Dry

When the cycle is complete, remove your mules from the washer and air dry them. Do not tumble dry the mules as this could set the stain.

Step 6: Check for Success

Finally, inspect the mules to see if the stain has been removed. If not, repeat steps 2 through 4 until the stain is completely gone.
