Step 1: Blot Stain Immediately

As soon as you notice the barbecue sauce stain, immediately use a dry, clean cloth or paper towel to blot away as much of excess sauce as possible. Do not rub or scrub the stain as this can cause it to spread and run deeper into the fabric fibers.

Step 2: Pre-Treat the Stain

Once you have blotted away as much of sauce as possible, pre-treat the remaining stain with a liquid laundry detergent. Apply a small amount of detergent directly to the stain and allow it to sit for 5 minutes. Once pre-treatment time is up, blot the area again with a clean cloth.

Step 3: Wash Your Maxi Dress

Wash your maxi dress as usual, but be sure to use the hottest water recommended on the care label. This will help break down and remove any remaining grease or oil from the fabric. Also, be sure to add a grease-fighting detergent like Tide Plus Ultra Stain Release to the wash cycle.

Step 4: Check for Remaining Stains

After washing your maxi dress, check the area where the stain was for signs of discoloration. If the stain is still present, repeat Steps 1-3 before drying your dress in the dryer.

Conclusion

Removing a barbecue sauce stain from a maxi dress is easier than you might think. By following the steps above, you can have your maxi dress looking good as new in no time!
