How to Easily Remove Barbecue Sauce Stains from Your Mattress

Barbecue sauce is delicious, but when it gets on your mattress, it can be quite a sticky situation. The good news is that cleaning this stain off your mattress doesn't have to be difficult, and can be done with a few common household items.

What You'll Need

  • Baking Soda
  • Dishwashing Liquid
  • White Vinegar
  • Clean Cloth
  • Vacuum Cleaner

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Once you notice the barbecue sauce stain on your mattress, it's important to try and remove as much of it as you can before starting the cleaning process. Start by blotting the area gently with a clean cloth. Keep blotting until no more liquid is coming out of spot.

Step 2: Treat with Baking Soda

Once you've removed as much of liquid as possible, sprinkle the area with baking soda. Make sure to cover the entire stained area. Leave the baking soda in place for about 20 minutes, then vacuum up the baking soda.

Step 3: Clean with Dishwashing Liquid

Next, mix a small amount of dishwashing liquid into some warm water. Dip a clean cloth into this solution and then use it to gently scrub the stained area. Rinse area with clean water, and then dry with a clean towel.

Step 4: Apply White Vinegar

Finally, pour some white vinegar on a clean cloth and dab it onto stained area. Allow the vinegar to sit for about an hour, then rinse it away with cool water. Dry the area with a clean towel.
