Step 1: Treat the Stain With a Pre-Wash Solution

Start by treating the stained area with a pre-wash solution. You can make your own pre-wash solution with white vinegar, liquid laundry detergent, and warm water. Simply mix one tablespoon of white vinegar, one tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent, and one quart of warm water. Then, apply the pre-wash solution to stained area with a cloth. Let it sit for about 15 minutes before rinsing it off.

Step 2: Soak the Linen in Warm Water

After you have treated the stained area, put linen in warm water and let it soak for at least 30 minutes. This will help to break down the barbecue sauce and make it easier to remove. After the soak, use a gentle detergent and a washing machine cycle to thoroughly wash linen. Make sure to set water temperature to cold so that the stain does not set further into the fabric.

Step 3: Consider a Professional Cleaning Treatment

If the stain is still present after the two steps above, consider taking linen to a professional cleaner. They can often use special treatments and detergents to effectively remove tough stains. Be sure to tell them about the nature of the stain so they can provide the best treatment.
