Silver jewelry can easily pick up and hold onto BBQ sauce stains, but luckily they can be removed with a few simple steps. Begin by making a paste of baking soda and warm water in a small bowl. Next, dip a soft-bristled toothbrush or cloth into the paste and gently scrub the stained area of the jewelry. If the stain is particularly stubborn, let the paste sit on it for a few minutes before scrubbing again. Rinse off the paste with warm water and then lightly wipe the silver jewelry off with a clean cloth.
Gold jewelry can be particularly tricky to clean when it has been subjected to the oils and acids in BBQ sauce. To tackle these unsightly stains, create a mixture of warm water and mild dish soap. Soak a soft cloth in the mixture and then gently scrub the stained area of the jewelry. Be sure to rinse the jewelry thoroughly after scrubbing by washing it under warm running water. Finally, let the jewelry air dry and avoid drying it with a towel or cloth as they could scratch the surface.
The best way to deal with BBQ sauce stains on jewelry is to avoid them in the first place! Before getting your grill on, take off any jewelry that might be prone to staining. This includes necklaces, rings, earrings, and other pieces. Additionally, if you’re using an apron, make sure it covers any jewelry you’re wearing so it won’t come into contact with BBQ sauce.
