First, take a cloth or a paper towel and gently dab at the stained area. Blotting will help to absorb some of the liquid that’s left behind in the fabric. Don’t use too much pressure, as this could spread the stain even further.
Once you’ve blotted away as much of the liquid as you can, use some dish soap to pre-treat stained area. Work it into fabric in a circular motion using your fingertips. If the stain is still visible, allow soap to sit for up to an hour before rinsing with warm water.
For heavily stained fabrics, consider pre-soaking the item in a cleaning solution. Mix together laundry detergent, borax, white vinegar, and a scoop of oxygen-based bleach, then add a gallon of warm water and stir until fully dissolved. Allow jersey to soak for several hours before washing it on the normal cycle with cold water.
If the stain has yet to lighten, let the garment air dry, then re-apply the dish soap and try step 3 again. Repeat until the stain is gone.
