Start by blotting the stain with a clean, white cloth. Do not rub or scrub the stain - just press firmly over the area to absorb as much of the barbecue sauce as possible.
Mix a solution of 1 tablespoon of mild detergent with 1 cup of warm water and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Gently stir this mixture together until it is foamy.
Dip a clean, white cloth into the cleaning solution and apply it to stained area in a gentle, circular motion. Allow the solution to sit on the stain for a few minutes before wiping away any remaining residue.
Once stain has been treated with the cleaning solution, use a nylon-bristled brush to scrub the area gently in a circular motion. Be sure not to press too hard, as this could damage the leather of the purse or handbag.
Using a clean, damp cloth, rinse away any remaining residue from cleaning solution. Be sure to dry the area completely with a soft, dry cloth.
Finally, use a leather conditioner to nourish and protect the leather of the purse or handbag. A good quality leather conditioner will help keep the leather soft and supple.
Now your purse or handbag is free of BBQ sauce stains and ready for many more summers of use.
