Using a spoon or dull knife, scrape away as much of the remaining BBQ sauce as possible from the denim. This will make cleaning much easier.
Mix together a small amount of mild detergent (a teaspoon or two depending on the size of the stain) into a cup of warm water. Soak the stained area of denim in the solution for five to ten minutes, then gently rub stain with a cloth or soft brush.
Next, spray stained area with white vinegar and let it sit for about 10 minutes. You can also mix equal parts white vinegar and water and soak the denim before rubbing the stain with a cloth or soft brush.
Sprinkle the stained area with enough salt to cover the area completely. Rub salt into denim fabric and let it sit for at least five minutes before rinsing with cold water.
Mix together a tablespoon of baking soda and enough hot water to create a paste. Apply this paste to the BBQ sauce stain and let it sit for 30 minutes. Once the paste has dried, rinse off the area with cold water and let it air dry.
Barbecue sauce stains can be stubborn, but with a little know-how and a few household items, you can easily get rid of them from your favorite pair of jeans. Just remember the steps and you'll be able to remove BBQ sauce stains from denim in no time at all!
