Removing BBQ sauce stains from fabric can seem daunting, especially when the fabric is delicate or lightweight. Fortunately, treating a stain on cotton voile, a lightweight and airy woven cotton fabric, is relatively straightforward. Try the steps below to remove BBQ sauce from cotton voile:

  • Remove excess sauce with a spoon or blunt knife.
  • Mix 1 part dishwashing liquid and 2 parts warm water in a bowl.
  • Dab the stain with a damp cloth dipped in the solution until it dissolves.
  • Rinse the area with cold water to remove any remaining detergent.
  • Pat dry with a clean cloth.
  • If the stain persists, repeat process or take it to dry cleaner.

If you don't have time for a quick rinse and dab, another option is to pre-treat the stain with a stain remover. Choose a specialized stain remover or laundry pre-treatment product designed for use on delicate fabrics like cotton voile. Simply apply according to instructions on the label and launder as usual.

It’s also important to note that when washing light-colored or patterned voile fabrics, it’s best to use a mild detergent. Avoid using bleach or hot water, which can cause dyed fibers in fabric to fade or run. Instead, wash with warm water in a gentle cycle.

With the right approach and right supplies, you can easily treat and remove BBQ sauce stains from your lightweight fabrics. Just remember to work quickly and test all products on an inconspicuous area first to make sure they won’t damage the fabric.
