Cleaning barbeque sauce stains from cotton lawn can be quite tricky, as the fabric is so light and delicate. The key to tackling these types of stains is to act fast. The longer you wait, the more difficult it will be to remove the stain fully.

Steps to Clean Barbecue Sauce Stains from Cotton Lawn

  1. Mix one tablespoon of liquid dishwashing detergent with two cups of cool water.
  2. Take a clean white cloth and dip it in the detergent solution.
  3. Gently blot the stained area with the cloth, taking care not to spread stain further.
  4. Once the excess sauce is removed, rinse the stained area with cool water.
  5. If the stain still remains, mix one teaspoon of washing powder and one cup of warm water in a bowl.
  6. Using a clean sponge, work the powder solution into stained area.
  7. Rinse the area again with cold water, and repeat the process if necessary.
  8. Pat the area dry with a clean cloth.
  9. Finally, hang the clothing in direct sunlight and allow to air dry.

If the stain persists after trying the above-mentioned steps, try soaking the garment in a detergent solution overnight before washing it. Additionally, if you are not sure whether a certain fabric can tolerate a particular cleaning agent or method, it is best to perform a patch test beforehand.
