It can be frustrating when you’re out having a great time and an accidental spill of barbecue sauce on your favorite pair of jeans or denim jacket ruins the moment. But don’t worry, the good news is that there are some easy ways that you can use to get rid of barbecue sauce stains from cotton denim.
The first thing you should do is quickly blot spilled sauce with a paper towel or cloth napkin. Do not rub or scrub, as this may make the stain worse. Next, mix together one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid with 1/4 cup of cold water in a bowl and stir until the soap is well combined. Soak a clean cloth or sponge in the solution and dab it onto the stained area. Continue to dab until the stain begins to lift. Then rinse the area with cold water and let it air dry.
If stain is still there after being treated with the dishwashing liquid solution, you can try using a stronger method. Start by applying a small amount of rubbing alcohol directly onto the stain and let it sit for two to three minutes. Make sure not to saturate the fabric or it could cause the dye to run. After the alcohol has set in, lightly blot stain with a clean cloth. To finish, rinse the area with cold water and air dry.
