How to Easily Get BBQ Sauce Stains Out of Charmeuse

Nobody likes a BBQ sauce stain, especially when it happens on an expensive fabric like charmeuse. But don’t fear — with a few simple steps and the right supplies, you can easily remove those BBQ stains from any charmeuse fabric.

When you’re removing a BBQ sauce stain from charmeuse fabric, it’s important to act fast, as the quicker you treat the stain, the easier it will be to remove. First, you must carefully dab (never rub) stain with a clean cloth or paper towel. This will help absorb any excess moisture and BBQ sauce still on the fabric and should blot out a bit of stain.

Next, create a cleaning solution by mixing together one part liquid detergent and five parts cold water. Without adding too much detergent, carefully sponge stain with the mixture, gently working from the outside of the stain toward the center. As you do this, the stain should start to transfer from the fabric onto the cloth. Once most of the stain has been removed, rinse the fabric with cold water.

If stain hasn’t completely faded away, you may need to use a heavier cleaning agent. To do this, combine a tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm water and mix. Once solution is created, lightly apply it to the stain before blotting it with a clean cloth. After this step is complete, rinse fabric again with cold water.

For more difficult BBQ sauce stains, you may want to use a cleaning product containing enzymes such as bile or protease — these products can be found at most grocery stores or online. Before using the product, it’s important to test it on a small hidden area of fabric to make sure it won’t cause any color fading. Once it has been tested, read directions on the bottle and apply product directly onto the stain. Then, launder the fabric per care instructions.

After the stain removal process is complete, be sure to wash the garment in cold water and dry it per its regular care instructions. With the right steps, cleanup won’t be a problem when it comes to BBQ sauce stains on charmeuse fabric.
