What You’ll Need to Remove BBQ Sauce Stains from Chambray

  • Cotton ball
  • White vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • A small bowl
  • Cold water
  • Clean sponge
  • Paper towels

Step 1: Blot the Stain with a Paper Towel

As soon as you notice the stain, quickly cover it with a few paper towels and press firmly in order to absorb as much of the BBQ sauce as possible. Make sure to be gentle in order not to spread the stain further.

Step 2: Soak the Stain with White Vinegar

Mix together white vinegar and cold water in a small bowl. Dip a cotton ball into solution and dab gently onto the stained area. The vinegar helps to break down BBQ sauce and loosen it from the fabric fibers.

Step 3: Apply Dish Soap on the Stain

Take a small amount of dish soap and massage it into the stain with your fingertips. Make sure to work it well into the fabric before rinsing it off.

Step 4: Rinse Stain with Cold Water

Lightly pour cold water over the stained area and blot it with a clean sponge. Continue to dab until all of the soap and vinegar has been removed.

Step 5: Air Dry Fabric

Lay the fabric out flat or hang it up and allow it to air dry completely before laundering. If the stain is still visible, repeat the steps until it is successfully removed.
