As with any stain, it’s important to treat your cashmere as soon as you can. The longer the stain has to set, more difficult it will be to remove. So, the first step is to launder the item immediately.
In a small bowl, combine equal parts water and white vinegar. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture, then gently scrub the stain until it’s as light as possible. Rinse any excess liquid from the area with cold water. If the stain is still present, repeat the process.
Mix a mild detergent (like Woolite) with warm water. Dab a clean cloth into mixture and gently blot the area with the stain until it’s completely absorbed. Repeat until the stain is gone. When you’re finished, rinse the area with cold water to remove any excess cleaner.
If the stain remains after cleaning, it might be time to seek help from a professional dry cleaner. They have the expertise and specialized equipment to remove even most stubborn of stains. Keep in mind, however, that not all dry cleaners specialize in cashmere fabrics.
