How to Easily Remove Barbecue Sauce Stains from Carrickmacross Lace

Step 1: Blot with a Clean Cloth.
Use a clean, white cloth and gently blot at the stain to absorb as much of liquid as possible. Make sure not to scrub the stain as this could further damage your lace.
Step 2: Pre-Treat with Detergent.
Mix one tablespoon of gentle detergent with two cups of lukewarm water. Dunk a clean cloth into the mixture and then blot the pre-treated area several times. Do not rub the cloth over the stain as this could cause it to spread.
Step 3: Rinse with Cold Water.
Rinse the pre-treated area with cold water and a clean cloth. Make sure to rinse the entire area to avoid any discoloration.
Step 4: Wash in Washing Machine.
Set the washing machine to the delicate cycle and wash the stained area with a gentle detergent. After the cycle is complete, lay lace flat to dry.
Step 5: Apply Stain Remover.
If the stain is still visible after washing, mix a teaspoon of detergent with white vinegar and apply it to the stained area. Blot the area with a clean cloth until the stain is gone. Rinse the area with cold water and let it dry.
Additional Tips
- Always test a small area of lace before attempting to remove stain.
- Never use bleaching agents, such as chlorine, on Carrickmacross lace as this could damage the fabric.
- Always iron the lace from the back side with a damp cloth in between.
