What You’ll Need

  • A few clean white cloths
  • Gentle detergent
  • Lemon juice
  • Baking soda
  • Iron and ironing board

Removing the Stain

  1. Start by gently blotting the stained area with a damp white cloth. This will help remove some of the sauce without pushing it deeper into the fabric.
  2. If stain is still visible, mix together a small amount of gentle detergent, lemon juice, and baking soda. Put mixture into a spray bottle and lightly spray the stained area.
  3. Let the mixture sit for several minutes before dabbing it with a clean white cloth. Be sure to dab, not scrub fabric.
  4. If the stain persists, make a paste of baking soda and water and apply it to the stained area. Allow it to dry completely before brushing it off.
  5. Finally, if the stain still remains, iron the affected area with a slightly warm iron after placing a towel over stain. Do not use excessively high temperatures, as this may cause further damage.

Tips For Avoiding BBQ Sauce Stains In The Future

  • Avoid spilling any sauce directly onto brocade fabric.
  • If possible, cover the furniture with a tablecloth or other protective layer before eating.
  • If a spill does occur, act quickly and blot the area with a damp cloth.
