Before cleaning your briefs, it's best to pre-treat the barbecue sauce stain. Start by laying your briefs out flat and identifying the stained area. Next, cover the stained area with a cloth or towel and a heavy object like a book. Doing this helps transfer any excess barbecue sauce from briefs onto the cloth and not into the fabric. Rinse off the stain with cold water afterward.
The next step is to treat the stain with a detergent solution. Create a mixture of one teaspoon of a mild detergent, such as a baby shampoo or a natural liquid detergent, with one cup of cold water. Mix the solution together until it is completely blended. Dip a clean cloth or cotton swab in the detergent-water mix and dab and blot the stain gently. Do not rub or scrub the stain, as this can cause the stain to spread or become set in permanently. Continue repeating the dab and blot technique until the stain is gone. Rinse off the detergent mix with cold water in between treatments.
Another method to try removing the barbecue sauce stain is by using white vinegar. Simply mix one part white vinegar and two parts hot water together and apply it directly to the stain. Let it sit for one minute and then rinse off with cold water. For tougher stains, you can try using a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and liquid dish soap, creating a thick paste. Apply the paste to the stained area and let it sit for 30 minutes before washing off with cold water.
Baking soda is an effective treatment for removing a barbecue sauce stain from briefs. Simply mix one tablespoon of baking soda with one tablespoon of water to create a paste. Spread paste over the stained area and let sit for 15 minutes. Afterward, rinse off with cold water and let the briefs air dry. If the stain persists, repeat the process.
