Things You'll Need

  • Liquid detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Soft-bristled brush or cloth

Instructions

  1. Mix liquid detergent and white vinegar in equal parts.
  2. Dip a soft-bristled brush into the mixture and gently brush it onto the stained area until it is completely covered.
  3. Leave mixture to soak for 10 minutes.
  4. Rinse off the stained area with cold water. The stain should now have faded significantly.
  5. Sprinkle baking soda over the stained area.
  6. Leave the baking soda to settle for 20 minutes.
  7. Gently rub the stained area with a soft-bristled brush or cloth.
  8. Wash the board shorts with regular detergent and cold water.
  9. Air dry the board shorts after washing.

Tips

  • If the stain persists, try leaving the mixture of liquid detergent and vinegar on the stained area overnight.
  • Try using a foam cleaner instead of liquid detergent.
  • Do not put your board shorts in the dryer before checking if the stain has been removed.

Warnings

  • Always test a small area of the fabric with any cleaning solution to make sure it won't cause any damage.
  • Do not use bleach to remove barbecue sauce stains from board shorts.
